What is Loss Control?

Loss Control or Loss Prevention can be defined as the function which is directed toward recognizing, evaluating, and eliminating (or reducing) the hazards which come from human error (unsafe acts) and from the workplace and its environment (unsafe conditions).

Safety must be an integral part of DPS operations. In order to do this, all DPS employees must work together to prevent injuries and losses. In addition, the DPS Safety Manager as well as other internal and external safety professionals advise site managers and supervisors on loss prevention measures to prevent losses from unsafe acts and conditions.
