(VHS 10 min.) 1990. SchoolMedia, Inc. This program from the Safety Collection combines live-action, animation and colorful graphics to teach children about bicycle safety. A friendly bicyclist demonstrates through music videos how to keep safe while riding a bicycle. Includes rules of the road, a bike safety checklist and other tips. Fire Safety. (VHS 10 min.) 1990. SchoolMedia, Inc. This program from the Safety Collection combines live-action, animation and colorful graphics to teach children about fire safety. A friendly fireman demonstrates through music videos how to keep your home safe from fire. (VHS 15 min.) 1998. SchoolMedia, Inc. This program from the Safety Collection teaches the basics of safe walking, bicycling, and riding in an automobile to school. It emphasizes the importance of using crosswalks, obeying the crossing guard, not accepting rides from strangers, waiting for a green light, wearing a bicycle helmet, wearing a seat belt, not running across the street to get into the car, and more. Playground Safety: Supervising Our Children. (VHS 13 min.) 1996. Coastal Safety and Environmental. Every year, approximately 200,000 children are injured due to playground hazards. This program is designed to make supervisors aware of potential playground dangers and understand good supervision techniques. Includes: Identifying hazards; supervising children; and first aid. Preventing Motor Vehicle Collisions. (VHS 20 min.) American Training Resources. Martin Lesperance, a veteran firefighter and paramedic, recalls stories of the collision scenes he has attended during his 22 years of experience. In almost every case, the accidents were predictable and preventable. Topics covered include: physical and mental distractions; driving while sleepy; rushing and taking chances; how speed kills; the importance of looking before backing up; and how seatbelts save lives. Sammy's Playground Pointers. (VHS 14 min.) 1997. National Program for Playground Safety. Sammy is a racoon (puppet) who ends up in the nurse's office after a very bad day on the playground. Sammy learns there are things he can do so he's less likely to get hurt. Gr. K-3. Stranger Safety. (DVD 42 min.) 2005. Aigner Clark LLC. Julie Clark, founder of the Baby Einstein Company, and John Walsh, host of America's Most Wanted, have created Stranger Safety to give kids a super-fun way to learn important safety information and to provide parents with simple and engaging ways to discuss this subject with their children.
