Play Cool at School

Play Cool Cover:

Play Cool at School has been updated (September 2007) and distributed to all DPS elementary schools (October 2007).  The Play Cool curriculum was developed by the Risk Management Department to teach playground safety rules to students in Grades K-3. It was initially distributed to all K-3 classroom and P.E. teachers at the beginning of the 2000-2001 school year. It should be used at the beginning of the school year and throughout the year, as needed, to reinforce the playground rules. All playground supervisors should review this curriculum.

Play Cool at School includes Playground Safety Background Information, Lesson Plans, bilingual Activity Sheets and transparency masters. A set of 50 laminated posters (English and Spanish), displaying playground safety rules and What's Wrong illustrations, was provided to all elementary schools in October 2007.  To request a copy of Play Cool at School, download the DPS Risk Management Publications Order Form here and fax your order to Risk Management at (720) 423-3229.
